About this Community
The What Works Institute Human-Centric Safety & Health Learning Community is more than a network - it is a living workgroup of committed EHS leaders dedicated to sharing practices, addressing common challenges, and elevating their organization’s approach to this critical issue.
Community members meet monthly both virtually and at What Works events to compare programs, identify and test new tactics, and push one another on a collective journey of continuous improvement.

Current Focus
SIF Prevention and HOP Integration: Strategically aligning SIF strategies with HOP principles to reduce high-consequence incidents while enhancing operational safety performance.
Psychosocial Risk and Mental Health: Addressing stress, burnout, and psychological safety as part of a holistic approach to workplace well-being.
Inclusivity in Safety: Designing systems and strategies that accommodate a
wide range of abilities, perspectives, and experiences.
Neurodiversity: Exploring the contributions and unique needs of neurodiverse employees in safety-critical roles.
Understanding “Harm”: Examining the definition of harm in order to transform the ways in which organizations build and execute on EHS interventions.
This Learning Community consolidates people-focused safety initiatives, and integrates priority topics like SIF prevention, HOP, psychosocial risk, mental health, and neurodiversity.
The goal is to strategically address diverse human elements in EHS management without creating unhelpful silos.
